Who is Don-Alan Rekow?
So you are wondering who is Don-Alan Rekow and what qualifies him to teach anything about personal improvement?
Let me give you a brief history of who I am and how I became the instrument to bring about the COnCEPT Q Model of Accomplishment. I was born in the small town of Emmett, Idaho (USA) and was raised there until I was 19. I then went on a two-year mission for my church in Mexico City. Up until then I had studied to be a mechanic and that typically would be what I returned to study and chose as a career, but up on returning I had a burning desire to become an author. I didn't know what I was supposed to write about but when I was asked what I wanted to do it was easy for me to say that I wanted to write a book.
For several years I continued to work as a mechanic, but my heart was not in it. I had gained a small understanding of personal improvement on my mission and the subject of faith intrigued me so in my spare time I would study about these subjects. In 1984 I decided to change professions and become a salesman. Being a missionary gave me a little experience selling intangibles but there was much to learn about sales. After several years of selling different products and never really doing a good job of it I ran into some motivational materials from Success Motivation Institute from Waco, Texas. Eventually I ended up in the head offices as a Development Director. It was in the later part of 1986 when, as the result of my continued personal study, one early morning I was inspired with a pattern that I saw used in the development and exercising of faith, and in personal achievement.
The concept was not only intriguing but exciting and I wanted to write a book about it back in 1986, but there was one problem: I really didn't know anything about my new found knowledge. Over the following 10 years I dedicated myself to study and read what I could to further comprehend the idea. It proved to be a solid concept as I continued to see variations and pieces of it in ancient as well as modern writings. Making a long story short, over the years the concept has only become stronger as I verify its truth and gain a greater understanding of it. As I apply it to my own life I become as James Allen says,
“The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows how to adapt himself to others;and they, in turn, reverence his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and rely upon him. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Even the ordinary trader will find his business prosperity increase as he develops a greater self-control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with a man whose demeanor is strongly equable. He is like a shade-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a storm."
As storms pass through my life, they have no power to cause turmoil and upset to my inner peace. COnCEPT Q has become a standard by which I live and a measure for me to guage others and their actions. Once a person understands the idea it is easy to apply to almost everything. |
